However, one ofthe main challenges in this educational modality is attrition. While research on attri-tion in online settings is plentiful, studies on student satisfaction with higher educa-tion institutions (HEIs) in these settings are still nascent. Therefore, this article aimedto assess the impact of student satisfaction with HEIs on their intention to drop out inthe OHE environment, seeking to identify specific constructs that influence studentsatisfaction in this educational modality. To achieve this, a partial least squares struc-tural equation modeling was employed to examine the relationship between satisfac-tion with the institution and the intention to drop out. The model was parameterizedusing data from a sample of 524 participants across the 32 departments of Colombia. The study revealed that satisfaction with various aspects of OHE variably affects over-all satisfaction with the HEI and the intention to drop out. Despite significant effectsizes, the lack of statistical significance in certain areas suggests further research. These findings are crucial for developing strategies to improve the educational experi-ence and reduce attrition in OHE.Guzmán Rincón, AlfredoSotomayor Soloaga, Pedro AurelioCarrillo Barbosa, Ruby LorenaBarragán-Moreno, Sandra PatriciaTHUMBNAILSatisfaction with the institution as a predictor of the intention to drop out in online higher education.pdf.jpgSatisfaction with the institution as a predictor of the intention to drop out in online higher education.pdf.jpgIM Thumbnailimage/jpeg10435https://expeditiorepositorio.utadeo.edu.co/bitstream/20.500.12010/35831/2/Satisfaction%20with%20the%20institution%20as%20a%20predictor%20of%20the%20intention%20to%20drop%20out%20in%20online%20higher%20education.pdf.jpgbe603e51748809af7c3a62dd06b2a6d9MD52open accessORIGINALSatisfaction with the institution as a predictor of the intention to drop out in online higher education.pdfSatisfaction with the institution as a predictor of the intention to drop out in online higher education.pdfAbrir documento / Open documentapplication/pdf2441958https://expeditiorepositorio.utadeo.edu.co/bitstream/20.500.12010/35831/1/Satisfaction%20with%20the%20institution%20as%20a%20predictor%20of%20the%20intention%20to%20drop%20out%20in%20online%20higher%20education.pdf8b762d55b0cd9445b59c013aba0da3d9MD51open access20.500.12010/35831oai:expeditiorepositorio.utadeo.edu.co:20.500.12010/358312024-11-14 03:03:03.953open accessRepositorio Institucional - Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozanoexpeditiorepositorio@utadeo.edu.co
