En Colombia, el tomate es un producto importante caracterizado por el uso excesivo de plaguicidas; sin embargo, aún no se ha determinado el destino ambiental de los plaguicidas. Se analizaron residuos de 30 plaguicidas en frutos, hojas y muestras de suelo, así como residuos de 490 plaguicidas en agua y sedimentos, procedentes de dos regiones productoras de tomate a campo abierto y en invernadero, mediante muestreo directo en el campo y posterior análisis de laboratorio por cromatografía líquida o de gases acoplada a espectrofotometría de masas. Se detectaron un total de 22 plaguicidas, siendo las concentraciones más altas para tiociclam en frutos (0,79 mg kg - 1 ), indoxacarb en hojas (24,81 mg kg - 1 ) y dimetomorfo en suelos (44,45 mg kg - 1 ), sin embargo no se detectaron residuos en agua o sedimentos. Se detectó al menos un plaguicida en el 66,7% de las muestras. El metomilo y el dimetomorfo eran comunes en frutas, hojas y suelos de ambas regiones; además, siete plaguicidas superaban los límites máximos de residuos. Los resultados mostraron una alta presencia y afinidad de plaguicidas en los compartimentos ambientales de las regiones altoandinas productoras de tomate, principalmente en suelos y sistemas productivos a campo abierto.

Se analizaron residuos de 30 plaguicidas en frutos, hojas y muestras de suelo, así como residuos de 490 plaguicidas en agua y sedimentos, procedentes de dos regiones productoras de tomate a campo abierto y en invernadero, mediante muestreo directo en el campo y posterior análisis de laboratorio por cromatografía líquida o de gases acoplada a espectrofotometría de masas. Se detectaron un total de 22 plaguicidas, siendo las concentraciones más altas para tiociclam en frutos (0,79 mg kg - 1 ), indoxacarb en hojas (24,81 mg kg - 1 ) y dimetomorfo en suelos (44,45 mg kg - 1 ), sin embargo no se detectaron residuos en agua o sedimentos. Se detectó al menos un plaguicida en el 66,7% de las muestras. El metomilo y el dimetomorfo eran comunes en frutas, hojas y suelos de ambas regiones; además, siete plaguicidas superaban los límites máximos de residuos.
