Description
Summary:The orchid Erycina pusilla was studied upon guayabo trees (Psidium guajava L.), its main host in the sector. 110 individuals were sampled on April 2013. Morphometric variables and their relationship with fertility were established. The relationship with the highest coefficient (R2 = 0.322) was the number of leaves and flowers, criteria withing the population was stratified in size classes. By means of vertical life table based on demographic parameters and single census, vital rates were calculated and found that the intrinsic population growth rate was greater than zero (r = 0.10), which allowed to establish that the population is growing. The foregoing should be interpreted with caution taking into account the limitations of the single censuses and assumptions of unlimited population growth in combination with the life history traits of the species.
