Nuestro estudio es de tipo descriptivo retrospectivo, consultamos el libro de estadísticas de la unidad neonatal donde se consignan las características y diagnósticos de los pacientes ingresados, también extendimos la consulta de las historias clínicas sistematizadas para conocer el tiempo de estancia, ventilación mecánica y desenlace final para cada paciente. De nuestra revisión podemos concluir que la mayoría de nacimientos corresponden a neonatos de sexo masculino, siendo los primeros 4 meses del año los de menor natalidad con posterior incremento con pico en el mes de septiembre. En nuestra institución ocurre una mayor incidencia de nacimiento pretérmino respecto a las cifras de OMS para nuestro país (un promedio cercano al 20% en nuestra institución y alrededor del 10% para Colombia según OMS) lo que puede explicarse por ser centro de referencia de alta complejidad. La membrana hialina y las alteraciones respiratorias son la principal causa de admisión. Del total de pacientes hospitalizados a lo largo del año, alrededor del 90% se clasifica con peso adecuado para la edad gestacional, la mayoría de los ingresos provienen de sala de partos con un incremento de la proporción de pacientes hospitalizados desde urgencias pediátricas para los meses de marzo, abril, mayo y en el segundo semestre en agosto y noviembre, coincidiendo con los meses de alerta epidemiológica por infección respiratoria. La mortalidad global para el año fue de 10 por cada 1000 NV, sin embargo el mes de enero presentó un comportamiento atípico que se consideró un hecho aleatorio. Podemos decir que las estadísticas de la unidad neonatal del Hospital Universitario Clínica San Rafael son congruentes con las de la literatura mundial y regional. |

Podemos decir que las estadísticas de la unidad neonatal del Hospital Universitario Clínica San Rafael son congruentes con las de la literatura mundial y regional.Our Project is a descriptive and retrosprospective study, we searched the birth records of the neonatal intensive care unit where the characteristics and diagnosis of the patients are registered, we also consulted intranet medical history records to learn the inpatient time of permanence, days of mechanical ventilation and outcome for each patient. Because of our researching we can conclude that most of newborns are masculine, the first four months of the year have the lowest birth rates with an increase after april reaching the top on september. In our hospital we have a higher incidence of preterm birth compared with WHO data for our country (average incidence of 20% in our institution and about 10% reported for Colombia according to WHO) this might be explained because of the complexity of the health care services we provide. Hyaline membrane disease and respiratory disturbances remain the leading cause of NICU admission. Nearly 90% of the admitted neonates in the NCIU have adequate birth weight for gestational age, most of the hospitalized patients come from the delivery room, with an increased proportion of patients from pediatric emergency room on march, april, may and for the second semester on august and november, related to the epidemiological alert season for respiratory infection. Global mortality of the year was 10 in every 1000 live births, nonetheless January had a bizarre tendency that was considered a random fact.
