description - En este artículo se desarrolla un conjunto de conceptos, problemas y estrategias que permiten definir las características que se aspira tengan las edificaciones para el logro de una mayor sostenibilidad o ecoeficiencia. Este estudio va encaminado a determinar la viabilidad de la construcción sostenible en viviendas de interés social y prioritario en la ciudad de Bogotá. Se pretende que la construcción de viviendas para la población más vulnerable, con técnicas eficientes de utilización de los recursos naturales, permita que la inversión o gasto en el mantenimiento de la misma y el cubrimiento de los gastos esenciales por el concepto de servicios públicos y expensas de administración sea reducido al máximo, para que este ahorro sea utilizado por los hogares más vulnerables en la mejoría de su calidad de vida y la reducción de la huella de carbono.
