Methods: case series study in patients with cancer of head and neck treated with external radiotherapy technique 3D-CRT and intensity modulated (IMRT), measures of central tendency and dispersion for simple numeric variables and frequencies and percentages were used for categorical variables. For the analysis of survival the Kaplan-Meier in the description of survival and Cox regression model for multivariate analysis was used Results: 49 patients with head and neck were treated between January 2005 and December 2012 cancer were included, and were treated with radiotherapy with conformal technique (3DCRT) or intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), adhesion was observed in 85% patients, mainly in those treated with IMRT (64.3%) compared to patients receiving therapy conformational (37.7%). Only 32 patients were analyzed (65.3%) for relapse-free survival, because the remaining 17 patients had no information recorded in medical records. It was not possible to calculate the median survival, relapse rate was 4.6 per 1,000 / year (95% CI = 1.9 to 11.1). Conclusions: The follow-up was short and limited the possibility of making comparisons with international series, the variables associated with risk of death match those reported in international literature, the only variable that presented statistical association with survival is the global clinical stage and for toxicity is a tendency to increased toxicity with 3D-CRT technique so it is recommended to treat patients with IMRT technique to reduce treatment toxicity.pdfspaUniversidad Militar Nueva GranadaFacultad de MedicinaOncología RadioterápicaNeoplasias de Cabeza y CuelloRadioterapia ConformalRadioterapia de Intensidad ModuladaRADIOTERAPIANEOPLASMAS DE CABEZA Y CUELLOCANCER-RADIOTERAPIAHead and neck neoplasmsConformal RadiotherapyIntensity-Modulated RadiotherapyExperiencia en el tratamiento con radioterapia conformacional y de intensidad modulada en pacientes con tumores de cabeza y cuello en el Instituto Nacional de CancerologíaHead and neck neoplasms treated with conformal and Intensity-Modulated Radiotherapy in the Instituto Nacional de Cancerologiainfo:eu-repo/semantics/bachelorThesisTrabajo de gradohttp://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_7a1fParkin DM, Bray F, Ferlay J, et al.
