description Introduccion El Objetivo del trabajo es es describir la elevacion de los niveles de calcio séricos en los expuestos a la aplicación intraquirurgica de sulfato de calcio y requerimiento de Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos en el postoperatorio posterior a la aplicación de perlas de sulfato de Calcio impregnadas en antibiótico durante la cirugía de Revisión de Reemplazo articular. Metodos Serie de casos de los pacientes sometidos a cirugías de revisión articular de cadera o rodilla, atendidos en el Hospital Militar Central de Bogotá durante el período enero a septiembre del 2019 con aplicación de 1 ampolla de STIMULAN®, impregnado con 1 gr de Vancomicina espacio subfascial que cumplan con los siguientes criterios de inclusión y exclusión Resultados 18 pacientes. el 77,8% de los pacientes presentaban mas de 50 años, el 55,6% son hombres mientras que el 44,4% son mujeres, solo 1 de los 18 pacientes requirió UCI y 7 pacientes equivalentes al 38,9% tenían alguna comorbilidad como diabetes, hipertensión arterial o inmunosupresión, no se documento ninguno caso de hipercalcemia en el postoperatorio Discusion Con el aumento de las revisiones protésicas se han implementado nuevas medidas para la prevención de infección, una de estas opciones es la aplicación de la aplicación de perlas de sulfato de calcio impregnado con antibiótico que nos permite una liberación prolongada de antibiótico local, se ha encontrado en la literatura que en los pacientes en los que se usó las perlas de calcio impregnadas con antibióticos hubo presencia de hipercalcemia entre el 2 y 5 días postoperatorio con complicaciones clínicas en pacientes de revisión de su reemplazo articular. Conclusion No se documentaron casos de hipercalcemia en el postoperatorio, solo un paciente requirio estancia en UCI y fue debido al sangrado quirurgico.
