Summary:Since 2012 I've had a brand of leather handbags called Nueve Almas. It is the largest and most important project I have done throughout my practice as a designer; Nueve Almas has had three collections, one per year, and with the brand, I have participated in independent design fairs. In 2015, after a visit to a tannery, I was able to have a broader and more informed point of view about the processes of leather treatment and the environmental impact they generate, not to mention the submission of the animal. It is important to understand that one of the main causes of contamination of the Bogotá river comes from the tanneries of Villa Pinzón and Chocontá: "Of the 74 tannery companies that the Environment Department of the Government of Cundinamarca has registered in Villapinzón, only two comply with the environmental norms."
