Description
Summary:Uncertainty is the common factor in construction projects, for this reason planning and programming must be careful, using the methodologies that best fit the project. Traditionally in the construction industry, deterministic time estimates have been used assuming that the durations of activities can be estimated with certainty, which ignores the nature of the activities. There are tools such as the critical path method (CPM) and the program evaluation and review technique (PERT), which are static in nature and do not adequately represent the uncertainty found in construction processes. The buffers are used as contingencies to protect the makespan of the project, absorbing the impacts generated by the uncertainty. The buffer estimation must allow the programmer to contemplate different scenarios, so that according to his preferences he can achieve the project delivery date. This thesis proposes a diffuse model for the calculation of the project buffer considering the learning effect and the generalized precedence between the activities.
