Summary: | In the dynamic environment nowadays, companies require continuously to implement and improve their technology solutions to respond to rapidly advancing information technologies, changes on business requirements, and new enterprise architecture initiatives. This transformation is supported by solution architectures, which are technically and financially analyzed to determine their profitability and justify their investments. However, solution architects face a major dificulty because current financial models are addressed to overall IT investments. Therefore, the identification of specific variables associated to solution architectures, the calculation of their financial indicators considering the uncertainty of the financial variables, the analysis of the flexibility to change decisions considering new information, and the comparison between architectures are complex activities. Consequently, investment decisions can be supported on poor indicators with limited detail, which can result in wrong investment decisions. This thesis presents FINFLEX, a framework addressing to cost-benefit analysis of solution architectures considering the uncertainty and flexibility. To evaluate FINFLEX, we designed a tool and an application called FINFLEX-APP. Both supported us in the collection of the required data, the calculation of the financial indicators and the validation of FINFLEX through diferent scenarios |
