Summary: | Summary The purpose of this research was to know the perception of Wayuu indigenous communities in the rural area of Media Guajira, on the relevance and benefits of the IRACA social program, of the National Government, to face the poverty of their communities, including a reflection on the meaning and scope of this type of program in the Wayuu population. The research had an inductive-deductive and qualitative character, using the case study methodology through documentary review, semi-structured interviews and a focus group. The analysis led to triangulating the information from the different sources. The researcher communicated in Wayunaiki (the language of the Wayuu) with monolingual participants. The research, carried out in the communities of El Ahumao (Riohacha), Maracari and Garciamana (Manaure), shows that, according to its inhabitants, who are mostly already inserted in the logic of overcoming the prevailing poverty in international development policies, the implementation of the program It strengthened some of its productive activities and was respectful in its relationship with the communities. However, these were not taken into account in the conception and design of the program, nor do they now have instruments to support the sustainability of the achievements. |
