El siguiente trabajo de grado para la carrera de Literatura busca analizar en términos literarios y políticos la novela Klara and the Sun (2021) de Kazuo Ishiguro. Para lograr esto, se establecen los siguientes puntos como aquellos que la novela critica: la figura de mujer y los roles de género, la relación con la tecnología, la relación con el otro y la sociedad consumista. La investigación desglosa los conceptos anteriores a través de varios pasajes de la novela y autores teóricos, y los pone en conversación con el contexto desde el cual la novela es enunciada. Al exponer las conexiones que existen entre ambos, surge una postura política frente a estos temas que plantea una discusión sobre cómo los discursos alrededor de la otredad tienen trascendencia política. La novela establece entonces su posición y critica su uso como una herramienta deshumanizante. En últimas, esté análisis nos permite concluir que la diferencia no elimina la humanidad, no importa cuántos factores políticos quieran que las personas lo piensen para beneficiarse de ello. |

In order to achieve this, I will establish the following focus points in the novel's message and critique: the concept of womanhood and gender roles, the relationship with technology, the relationship with an Other, and consumerist society. This investigation will dive into the aforementioned concepts through a myriad of passages of the novel itself as well as some literary theorists and will form a discussion with the context whence the novel is conceived. By exposing these existing connections, a political position will emerge and will establish questions about how otherness discourses transcend politics. The novel establishes its stand and will criticize the use of said concept as a dehumanizing tool.
