There is limited evidence on the best strategies for training skills to establish a positive therapeutic relationship. Deliberate practice (DP) is a promising strategy for training therapeutic skills. This study aimed to develop and evaluate the feasibility of a web-based DP training program to improve empathy, consensus, and collaboration skills. A pilot-controlled trial was conducted, with participants randomly assigned to a control group (n=8) and an experimental group (n=11). Participants' performance was measured by rating videos of their performance in empathy, consensus, and collaboration. Additionally, qualitative interviews were conducted with the participants. The results show that the training program has good acceptability for most of its components and promising evidence regarding its effectiveness in developing these skills. However, some challenges were identified, such as a low recruitment success rate and difficulties with inter-rater reliability, particularly for consensus measures. The successes, such as the training design and components, and opportunities for improvement, such as enhancing recruitment strategies, are discussed. |

La práctica deliberada (PD) es una estrategia promisoria de entrenamiento de habilidades terapéuticas. El presente estudio buscó desarrollar y evaluar la factibilidad de un entrenamiento web basado en PD para mejorar las habilidades de empatía, consenso y colaboración. Para ello empleó un ensayo controlado piloto en el que los participantes fueron distribuidos entre un grupo control (n=8) y un grupo experimental (n=11). Se midió el desempeño de los participantes calificando videos de su desempeño en empatía, consenso y colaboración. Adicionalmente, se realizó una entrevista a los participantes para realizar un análisis cualitativo. Los resultados muestran que el entrenamiento tiene una buena aceptabilidad de la mayoría de sus componentes y evidencia promisoria respecto a la eficacia del entrenamiento para desarrollar estas habilidades. Sin embargo, se identificaron algunos desafíos como una baja tasa de éxito en el reclutamiento y dificultades con la confiabilidad entre observadores de las medidas, especialmente para el caso de consenso. Se discuten los aciertos, como el diseño y componentes de la intervención, y las oportunidades de mejora, como el mejoramiento de estrategias para incrementar el éxito en el reclutamiento.PsicólogoPregrado126 páginasapplication/pdfengUniversidad de los AndesDoctorado en PsicologíaFacultad de Ciencias SocialesDepartamento de PsicologíaFeasibility of a deliberate practice training program for therapists: supporting the development of empathy, consensus, and collaboration competencesTrabajo de grado - Doctoradoinfo:eu-repo/semantics/bachelorThesisinfo:eu-repo/semantics/acceptedVersionhttp://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_7a1fTexthttp://purl.org/redcol/resource_type/TPDeliberate practiceEmpathyConsensusCollaborationPsychotherapyPsicología201915663Publicationd12dc7c4-2e05-4036-b23c-c65f29feef2fvirtual::20730-1d12dc7c4-2e05-4036-b23c-c65f29feef2fvirtual::20730-1THUMBNAILDoctoral dissertation Oscar Cordoba version final1.pdf.jpgDoctoral dissertation Oscar Cordoba version final1.pdf.jpgIM Thumbnailimage/jpeg6597https://repositorio.uniandes.edu.co/bitstreams/ab665a28-c132-40cb-b596-ea9faa6f41d8/downloadc5b9829c5762131b153ab7023d85bb73MD57Autorizacion subir tesis al repositorio.pdf.jpgAutorizacion subir tesis al repositorio.pdf.jpgIM Thumbnailimage/jpeg16255https://repositorio.uniandes.edu.co/bitstreams/b7eb920e-c306-4296-a386-42412db62085/download9c46b4b421839d16af9fbb0b522ab762MD59ORIGINALDoctoral dissertation Oscar Cordoba version final1.pdfDoctoral dissertation Oscar Cordoba version final1.pdfTrabajo de gradoapplication/pdf1628241https://repositorio.uniandes.edu.co/bitstreams/0e8dd408-dc8a-436a-b8d8-b9a64f636ffd/download312304dedf7e62ad2ea252755d7b75afMD54Autorizacion subir tesis al repositorio.pdfAutorizacion subir tesis al repositorio.pdfHIDEapplication/pdf237963https://repositorio.uniandes.edu.co/bitstreams/754d816e-3f14-4540-af90-d75ca28e8654/download65394be03eddc961576159ed42d396afMD55CC-LICENSElicense_rdflicense_rdfapplication/rdf+xml;
