Those complexes exhibit unique characteristics, such as variable coordination modes, redox activity and reactivity against an organic substrate. In this way, the design of new metal complexes as antitumor agents has aroused great interest in the scientific community in order to obtain a better anticancer activity, reduce the overcoming secondary effects related to the low selectivity, and obtain affordable and easily accessible treatment for cancer patients.El cáncer sigue siendo uno de los grupos de enfermedades multifactoriales que causa más muertes en todo el mundo. De hecho, la resistencia emergente a los tratamientos tradicionales contra el cáncer hace necesario el análisis de nuevos métodos para tratarlo de manera eficaz. Una de las terapias más exitosas para manejar el cáncer es el uso de complejos metálicos, como el cisplatino. Estos complejos exhiben características únicas, tales como modos de coordinación variables, actividad redox y reactividad contra un sustrato orgánico.
