Cardoso forms part of a group of scientists and artists from different backgrounds who have seen the potential of interdisciplinary collaboration and the value of creativity and sensitivity in the search for knowledge. This new perspective questions the limits of both fields in terms of method, scope, purpose, institution, and bias. The purpose of this text is to give an introductory look at two of Cardoso's most significant works under an interdisciplinary approach in order to establish their relationship with cultural institutions and scientific practice.Maria Fernanda Cardoso es una artista colombiana que desde hace veinte años viene incorporando la investigación científica como elemento central en sus obras de arte. Algunos de sus intereses principales se encuentran en el mundo escondido de las especies diminutas, la presencia del arte en el mundo animal, y las características reproductivas morfológicas de las especies. Cardoso hace parte de una corriente de científicos y artistas de diferentes procedencias que han visto el potencial de la colaboración interdisciplinaria y del valor de la creatividad y la sensibilidad en la búsqueda de conocimiento. Esta nueva perspectiva cuestiona los límites de ambos campos en cuanto a método, alcance, objeto, institución, y sesgo.
