Many international law instruments related to peacebuilding have a one-sided view of gender, to the detriment of advancing equality between men and women. The common misconception of gender as "female" obscures the relational nature of gender, and men's role in creating more peaceful and equitable societies. Even in the Colombian peace process, in which civil society and women's organization advocated for more comprehensive solutions to inequality, the gender perspective in the Final Agreement to End the Armed Conflict and Build a Stable and Lasting Peace (hereafter, Final Agreement or Havana Accord) remains limited to women, girls, and their particular needs. This focus, while important, does not address the underlying causes of inequality. This thesis identifies how masculinities appear in the international legal instruments and in the Final Agreement, thus demonstrating that they contain language that alludes to masculinities, although explicit references to men, boys, and masculinities are scarce. This discourse, which I label "Implicit Masculinities," suggests changes that will impact gender relations, whether intentionally or not. Therefore, it is essential that men must be understood as gendered subjects who, along with women, experience differentiated effects of armed conflict, undergo transformations during and after times of heightened violence, and are fundamental in the advancement of gender equality.Magíster en Construcción de PazMagíster en Derecho InternacionalMaestría126 hojasengUniversidad de los AndesMaestría en Construcción de PazMaestría en Derecho InternacionalFacultad de Ciencias SocialesFacultad de DerechoThe gender perspective in the 2016 Havana accord and the international legal discourse on masculinities: A space for dialogueLa perspectiva de género en el Acuerdo de La Habana de 2016 y el discurso jurídico internacional sobre las masculinidades: Un espacio para el diálogoTrabajo de grado - Maestríainfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesishttp://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85Texthttp://purl.org/redcol/resource_type/TMGender equalityPeacebuildingInternational lawFinal AgreementColombiaIntegración de géneroIgualdad de géneroMasculinidadDerechoCiencia PolíticaAidi, H.
