The paper uses a skill supply and demand framework to arrive to these conclusions, and also a non-parametric decomposition exercise is carried out.Este documento analiza la evolución de la desigualdad en los ingresos laborales en Colombia para el período 1978-1998. Los principales resultados muestran una caída permanente en los retornos de los trabajadores con educación intermedia y un incremento en los salarios de las mujeres y de la población más calificada. Estos cambios no están asociados con la mayor apertura económica, sino con los cambios en la composición educativa de la fuerza laboral y con el sesgo salarial entre trabajadores calificados y no calificados generado por cambios tecnológicos.
