description The research explores the relationship between political culture and print culture in Colombia between 1920 and 1946. In this period liberals, conservatives, socialists and communists found in the production, circulation and consumption of print a scenario that defined their ways of doing and acting in public life. Following the approach of material history of the political, the materiality, sociability and spatiality of the communication circuit of the printed matter in which typographers, editors, announcers, booksellers and readers intervene are reconstructed. From this perspective, the materiality of the production of the graphic arts industry and the participation of different traditions of the national political culture in its modernization process are reconstructed. In light of the definition of the contexture of the typographic industry and the development of capitalism of the printed matter in Colombia, the different printed supports that were used are explored: books, newspapers, magazines and a wide range of ephemeral items such as almanacs, brochures, billboards and advertising posters that have not been considered with sufficient attention by local historiography. Likewise, some print trade spaces are reconstructed, such as bookstores and a varied set of reading practices that are defined by the material characteristics of printed matter and the multiplication of sociability spaces that range from town houses, public squares, streets and modern public transport systems. All these elements warn new ways to think about the configuration of political modernity and the ways of participating in the public sphere in which literate and non-literate interact and define the meaning of politics in the study period.

En este periodo liberales, conservadores, socialistas y comunistas encontraron en la producción, circulación y consumo de impresos un escenario que definió sus formas de hacer y de actuar en la vida pública. Siguiendo el enfoque de historia material de lo político, se reconstruye la materialidad, sociabilidad y espacialidad del circuito de comunicación de los impresos en el que intervienen tipógrafos, editores, voceadores, libreros y lectores. A partir de esta perspectiva, se reconstruye la materialidad de la producción de la industria de las artes gráficas y la participación de distintas tradiciones de la cultura política nacional en su proceso de modernización. A la luz de la definición de la contextura de la industria tipográfica y del desarrollo del capitalismo de los impresos en Colombia, se exploran los distintos soportes impresos que fueron utilizados: libros, periódicos, revistas y un conjunto amplio de efímeros como almanaques, folletos, carteles y afiches de publicidad que no han sido considerados con suficiente atención por la historiografía local. Asimismo, se reconstruyen algunos espacios de comercio de impresos como las librerías y un conjunto variado de prácticas de lectura que están definidas por las características materiales de los impresos y la multiplicación de espacios de sociabilidad que van desde las casas del pueblo, las plazas públicas, las calles y los modernos sistemas de transporte. Todos estos elementos advierten nuevas formas para pensar la configuración de la modernidad política y los mecanismos de participación en la esfera pública en la que letrados y no letrados interactúan y definen el sentido de lo político en el periodo de estudio.Doctor en HistoriaDoctorado402 páginasapplication/pdfspaUniversidad de los AndesDoctorado en HistoriaFacultad de Ciencias SocialesDepartamento de HistoriaCultura impresa y cultura política en Colombia, 1920-1946Trabajo de grado - Doctoradoinfo:eu-repo/semantics/doctoralThesisinfo:eu-repo/semantics/acceptedVersionhttp://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_db06Texthttps://purl.org/redcol/resource_type/TDCultura impresaPolíticaEfímerosTipógrafosLibrerosCultura políticaIndustria gráficaIndustria editorialHistoria201310245Publicationc0a93598-bc2f-47c6-871e-ed3926a4b21cvirtual::8745-1c0a93598-bc2f-47c6-871e-ed3926a4b21cvirtual::8745-1https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0000032778virtual::8745-1LICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain;
