Description
Summary:Currently, infants incidences of central, obstructive and mixed apnea attract attention worldwide, Latin America and mainly in Colombia. In general, apnea refers to the cessation or interruption of respiratory flow for periods greater than 15 seconds. According to data, from the World Health Organization (WHO), only in the neonatal population there is mortality with an incidence of 14 newborns per 1000 births, which can increase to 23 newborns out of 1000 born in the first week ( Romero & López, 2014). This without considering the incidence in infants who are not categorized as neonates, and the adverse problems that this may generate in the future if the infant survives (it does not become a sudden death syndrome).
