Summary:Besides the efforts of the international community, viral hepatitis remain as a public health concern that represents a significant financial, mortality and morbidity burden worldwide. For its part, looking for the prevention and control of this diseases, Colombia implemented que National Plan for the Control of Viral Hepatitis 2014-2017. Using official information, this study makes an economic evaluation of the costs of Hepatitis B in Colombia from a social perspective from 2009 to 2015, so the costs can be captured before and after the execution of the Plan. Results show that Hepatitis B remains as a significant financial burden in Colombia and provide a guidance for future political decisions concerning the allocation of scarce resources
