description |
The study of microbiomes is seen as a constantly developing field of research (Goodrich et al., 2014). Microbiomes are communities of microorganisms associated with a host, such as plants, animals and humans, in a symbiotic relationship (Hunter, 2016). Specifically in plants, associated microbiomes have been shown to influence plant health, physiology, nutrient absorption and defense mechanisms (R. Mendes et al., 2013). Likewise, plants play a fundamental role in the structuring of these microbial communities (Berendsen et al., 2012). Due to the ability of the microbiomes associated with the plant roots to help the resistance of the soil and plants to possible disturbances, these communities have gained great importance in recent years in the area of agriculture (Pascale et al., 2020). Therefore, its modulation will allow the control of possible diseases associated with the plant and an optimization of nutrients (Hamonts et al., 2018). However, the understanding of microbiomes and how their interactions are carried out is still limited due to its difficulty in experimentation (Astudillo-García et al., 2017). Taking into account the potential of the microbiomes to promote sustainable agriculture, the use of synthetic microbial communities will be studied, based on the central microbiome associated with the roots of plants, since it allows a reductionist and specific approach, together with their processes of design and assembly. |
