Their spatial relation shows an east to west transition from deep ocean sediments, basic lava compositions and gravity flow pyroclastic deposits to shallower depositional environments, intermediate lava compositions and fall pyroclastic deposits. The results obtained in this study confirm the tectono-magmatic models previously proposed in which a para-autochthonous island arc along with a marginal basin were stablished for early to mid-Cretaceous ages"Las rocas sedimentarias y volcán-sedimentarias del Complejo de Quebradagrande en el margen noroeste de América del Sur registran el arco y sus configuraciones tectónicas de arco inverso asociadas. Se analizaron dieciséis secciones delgadas que revelan distintas facies de lava desde composiciones básicas a intermedias. Las relaciones de campo, seis secciones estratigráficas y el análisis petrográfico permiten la identificación de tres litofacies principales: sedimentarias, efusivas y piroclásticas. Su relación espacial muestra una transición de este a oeste de sedimentos oceánicos profundos, composiciones básicas de lava y depósitos piroclásticos de flujo por gravedad a entornos de deposición más bajos, composiciones de lava intermedia y depósitos piroclásticos de caída.
