This model relates crash frequency during a 4-year period (2013-2016) occurred on a specific rural road of Colombia divided into 403 segments. The factors investigated were horizontal alignment, operational characteristics, cross-sectional alignment, geometric design, lateral environment, and pavement conditions. Seven count-data model were compared with an ordered logit model, in order to explore the best fit for the road analyzed." -- Tomado del Formato de Documento de Grado."En Colombia la accidentalidad vial es la segunda causa de muerte violenta que dejó en el año 2016 un número de 45,256 lesionados y 7,280 muertos. Dentro de estos últimos, el 41% fallecen en vías rurales siguiendo una tendencia creciente. Este paper investiga los factores que afectan la frecuencia de accidentes en carreteras rurales. Un modelo estadístico fue desarrollado para áreas no urbanas y países en vía de desarrollo. Este modelo relaciona la frecuencia de accidentes ocurridos durante un periodo de 4 años (2013 - 2016) en una vía rural de Colombia dividida en 403 segmentos. Los factores investigados fueron: alineamiento horizontal; alineamiento transversal; diseño geométrico; condiciones laterales, y condiciones del pavimento.
