Summary: | For more than 20 years, users have given a payment to ensure reliability in the energy market and avoid high prices. Even so, Colombia is considered as one of the countries with the most expensive electricity in Latin America. This is due, among others, the way of selecting prices, the dependence of water sources for the gen-eration of electricity and the El Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO). The ENSO decrease the levels in reservoir reducing the offer of electricity generation and skyrocketing the prices. From this, the present work analyzes and evaluates the schemes implemented by the State to avoid peak units in critical events. |
