Description
Summary:During the last decade, social mobility in Colombia has caused important changes in the composition of social classes. From a growing middle class to a significant percentage reduction in poverty, the results at the national level are encouraging. However, at the territorial level, the behavior has not been homogeneous, while some departments have reduced their poor population by approximately half, others even, in some periods, have shown growth. This work estimates the ascending and descending intragenerational social mobility between social classes defined by thresholds of per capita family income during 2008 and 2017 at the departmental level, estimating the population factors that increase or reduce the risk of leaving or remaining in poverty.
