Summary: | The páramos are one of the most important ecosystems in terms of the great biodiversity they have and the ecosystem services they provide. They host 25% of the planet's biodiversity and provide drinking water for the world's population. However, they are ecosystems that are at risk due to the constant growth of livestock, agriculture and mining activity that reduces and fragments their area, not to mention the implications that climate change brings. Since it has great value and there are multiple threats a consensus has been reached about the importance of knowing more about these ecosystems. For this reason, the objective of this article is to carry out a bibliographic review of the articles on páramos that have been published during the last 50 years, to identify trends in academic publications.
