In Colombia, there is a paucity of research on engineering practice. Therefore, this study analyzes the experiences of thirteen engineering practitioners in Bogota and surrounding areas to learn from their perspectives about engineering practice to nurture engineering education. Using a basic qualitative study design, with both interviews and observations, I interpret the transformations they undergo in their transition to practice and once as practitioners. In the plethora of interpretations, I reveal five states, each serving to reflect on what it means to do engineering for this small group of practitioners.
