description In higher education institutions, generating feedback and identifying early alerts for students is a difficult challenge. Stakeholders such as program coordinators and teachers grapple with the task of summarizing and analyzing students historical data and really having a full picture of their educational journey through university. The lack of effective synthesis and visualization tools hampers their ability to gain insights into student behavior and progression. To address these challenges, this work introduces the concept of learning analytics dashboards as a powerful solution for these problems. We focus on the design and implementation of a learning analytics dashboard tailored to the Systems and Computation Engineering undergraduate degree at the University of Los Andes in Colombia. Drawing from a structured design process for visualization design, guided by the Design Activity Framework, we aim to identify the essential stakeholder requirements and needs for student monitoring. Through the development of visualizations and prototypes, this work seeks to empower key stakeholders to uncover valuable insights and patterns related to student behavior, progression, and at-risk indicators throughout their educational pathways. Continuous validation with stakeholders and ongoing feedback ensure that the dashboard remains relevant and aligned with the needs of those who use it for educational decision-making. This research seeks to bridge the gap between data and actionable insights, ultimately enhancing the educational experience and supporting student success in a rapidly evolving higher education landscape.
