Summary: | Currently, societies are faced with a number of challenges such as inequality, violence, socio-political conflicts, and the consolidation of a much more democratic society. This reality requires that education respond to these challenges from curricular, methodological and pedagogical proposals. One of these proposals focuses on the formation of civic competencies, which aim to foster skills in students so that more empathic and cooperative social relationships are generated. Through my ten-year experience as a teacher in Programa Infantil y Juvenil de Formación Musical (PIJ) of the Universidad de los Andes, an additional curriculum music program that offers students a musical learning experience for 16 Saturdays each semester, I have been part of curricular and pedagogical changes that seek to articulate the class objectives with the activities and evaluation, all this projected from the musical teaching.
