Chapinero : Centro Cultural

"The center arose culturally from the idea of Civic Center proposed by CIAM, which seeks to be reconstructed in central Chapinero. To do this, the analog vision was used, that is, the references were analyzed to understand its formal structure and, from there, the civic center was reconstructed. In this case Pomeya is taken as a reference, characterized by having a square surrounded by columns and around these the arrangement of different public buildings that define the Forum, despite being loose between them. To this end, a series of buildings are presented around the Plaza de Lurdes, which are public. On the other hand, housing for rent is offered as an element that allows new residents to be brought into the sector. On the other hand, the natural existence of the Quebrada Las Delicias is of great importance, which although channeled is reflected in the morphology of the blocks that the historic family of Chapinero as a cultural center. The Free Theater is an important element that is maintained, which is located in the same canalized area, so it becomes the center of the development of the project. In a few words, having as a central focus the cultural importance of Chapinero, the natural existence and the necessity of a residential proposal arises the Cultural Center. This part of the reconstruction of the civic center is conformed by an Art School, which houses activities that can be developed around the theater; the approach of the expansion of the Free Theater, so that it can offer all the activities around this activity; and a proposal for rental housing, as a new option that the market could offer temporary to people with lower purchasing power.
