Water is created on the eastern mountain range, it then travels through Bogota and turns into the Bogota River. It then flows through a large part of the country, becoming the Magdalena River which disembogues into the Caribbean Sea and merges with the waters of the world, creating a relationship between the water in Bogota and the rest of the world. Analysis shows that the water within Bogota has been manipulated by mankind, fore in some parts it flows in an organic manner, while in others it has linear geometry which indicate different speeds and interactions between us and the fundamental element of life known as water. The project is a reinterpretation of the boundary between the city and nature. It is a window that articulates the city and the territory surrounding it, while addressing issues related to permeability and mobility. Located on the northeastern side of the Simon Bolivar Metropolitan Park, more specifically between Los Novios Park (the last instance of nature within the urban area) and road 30 (the most significant intervention made by mankind). The symbiosis between the city and water is achieved by framing the landscape, generating different routes for both people and water, modulating nature and interpreting mobility as the maximum intervention made by mankind. The project integrates different systems at different scales, on a global scale ecological elements, on metropolitan scale the railway system, on a city scale Transmilenio and on a local scale bike paths and pedestrian areas. This is achieved by the creation of a platform that connects a train station, offices, a cultural center and the metropolitan park with a Transmilenio station, housing and the city. The eastern side of the project seeks to be a gateway to the city, while the west is a reinterpretation of nature in terms of material, form and vegetation. |
