While the Mondoñedo sections of the Balsillas Fm. lack of organic and ash bearing deposits,butinterestingpaleosols and macrofossils of Humiriaceae and Asteraceae were found...El momento en el que la Cordillera Oriental (CE) alcanzó su elevación actual es aun objeto de amplias discusiones porque tiene un rango temporal muy amplio, existen datos de engrosamiento cortical desde el Paleoceno tardío (~60Ma). Este trabajo describe tres nuevas localidades en los depósitos del Plioceno de la Sabana de Bogotá, con un gran potencial para someterse a estudios paleoclimáticos y paleoaltitudinales modernos, los cuales permitirán distinguir si los trabajos previos observaron la señal de cambios climáticos o levantamiento de superficie en la zona axial de la Cordillera Oriental. La primera sección está ubicada en Sotaquira, pertenece la Fm. Tilatá, se depositó en una llanura de inundación y presenta horizontes datables y sedimentos ricos en materia orgánica. Las secciones de la Fm. Chorrera, cerca al municipio de Rio Frio, constituyen los depósitos de abanicos aluviales y una toba. Mientras que las secciones de la Fm. Balsillas, estudiadas en Mondoñedo, carecen de horizontes orgánicos o datables y se caracterizan por paleosuelos que contienen macrofósiles de cf.
