Summary: | This undergraduate project explains the manufacturing process of a reactor used for the cold gasification of bagasse to produce panela. Bagasse, which is a waste from the sugar industry in Colombia, representing a renewable energy source. This is because it is a neutral CO2 organic matter, returning to the atmosphere the same amount that was absorbed by photosynthesis. This reactor design efficiently takes advantage of the calorific properties of the waste that can be incorporated in the process of generating thermal or electrical energy. It is usually used as a heat source in sugar mills. It is important because it replaces other more polluting energy sources such as firewood, guadua or used tires. The camera was made of acrylic to be able to observe the movement of the fibers inside. This was done through the designs of several chambers considering which was the best in terms of operating ranges of temperature and humidity. |
