Description
Summary:In Colombian society we find a large number of testimonies regarding crime, corruption, and violence. In addition to this, as students and citizens, we are witnesses of social disengagement towards various crises (poverty, inequality, unemployment, etc.) by different sectors of society. Within the multiple ways to counteract these social problems, we consider that, from a critical and reflective research process with respect to these social phenomena and with respect to education itself, we will be able to contribute in the field of education in terms of formative aspects. We consider that one of the conditions required to solve these problems is to ensure that the educational processes that predominate today in homes, schools and universities contribute very effectively to the ethical formation of students. Taking the above into account, we allow ourselves to point out that one of the great difficulties experienced by the educational field is due to the fact that the cognitive dimension has invaded the total field of education. Consequently, the formative dimension of students has been neglected understood as the meaning of life and the values that are built and consolidated throughout existence. Based on the above, it has been argued that the problems we face as a society correspond to the educational reproduction of knowledge and ignorance of being (Sanz de Santamaría, 2007). On the other hand, from our own experience, we have witnessed how the educational field guides us to the benefits of knowledge and thought, but separates us from self-knowledge, from the construction of values and from the generation of meaning in life itself. For this reason, the focus of this research is exploring in what ways current education is contributing to ethical formation or ethical malformation of students.
