Description
Summary:"The problem of determining the economic order quantity has long attracted the attention of researchers, and several models have been developed to meet requirements under different circumstances at minimum cost. This thesis represents an effort to provide insights into the inventory management of perishable products in the retail sector. Towards this end, we first examine the literature of inventory models for deteriorating items. Then, based on the acquired knowledge during this phase and fresh ideas, we propose two types of inventory models to assist retailers in decision making when accounting for the effect of the time value of money (TVM) on inventory decisions in two different contexts. In the first context, we propose a new approach for jointly determining inventory policies and price-discount decisions under the existence of shortages. In the second context, we propose a new approach for evaluating and implementing just-in-time (JIT) purchasing alliances between farmers and retailers."--Tomado del Formato de Documento de Grado.
