Summary: | "Wind load analysis on buildings is essential to estimate design loads on the MWFRS (main wind force resistance system), although construction codes around the world like ASCE, NSR-10, AJI, Euro Code, among others suggest a methodology for the computation of these loads, occasionally these methodologies have limitations when it comes to highness and shape of buildings. For these cases the construction codes demand wind tunnel experimentation or any other rational method that allows comprehend the building behavior under the action of critical wind speed. However, wind tunnel tests must be conducted on specialized laboratories with high tech specifications leading to high costs for the pertinent study. Thus, the purpose of this work is to validate wind load estimation on buildings using CFD tools specifically OPENFOAM. For that, based on previous experimentation and simulations (Blocken et al, 2007) & (TPU, 2007) for the estimation of pressure coefficients using OPEN FOAM these results are replicated. Then using the same procedure, a study of pressure coefficients is performed on an applied case (ALDEA 7-100) for comparison between the traditional approach and the CFD approach."-- Tomado del Formato de Documento de Grado |
