description The stemmata are the photosensitive organs of several groups of holometabolous immature insects. They are single chamber eyes equipped with a concave retina and a single lens. The arrangement on the head is highly diverse, in some groups with image resolving capability; and in other cases, only with differences in the spectral sensibility among different stemmata... That is the case with the aquatic and predatory larvae of Corydalus (Megaloptera: Corydalidae) showing six well developed stemmata on each side of the head and arranged as a pentagon with a stemma in the center... To address these objectives we used geometric and lineal morphometric methods applied to different larval stages. Finally, to evaluate the image resolving capacity of the stemmata we carried out semi-thin sections and measured the focal lengths of the corneal lenses of each stemma in mature larvae..." -- Tomado del Formato de Documento de Grado.

Presentan una estructura en cámara simple con retina cóncava y un único lente. La organización sobre la cabeza es altamente diversa, y en algunos grupos tienen la capacidad de resolver imagen, mientras en otros se presentan diferencias en sensibilidad espectral en los diferentes stemmata... Tal es el caso de las larvas acuáticas y predadoras del género Corydalus (Megaloptera: Corydalidae), que presenta seis stemmata bien desarrollados a cada lado de la cabeza, organizados a manera de pentágono con un stemma en el centro... Para abordar esos objetivos se usaron métodos de morfometría lineal y geométrica en larvas de diferentes estadios.
