Summary:Mediation is a mechanism for access to justice implemented in the city of Bogotá since the 1990s through access to justice policies, with the aim of contributing to the reduction of personal injuries and affect the security of the city. Twenty years after its implementation, this document aims to identify the efficiency of mediation and its outcome in the occurrence of injuries during 2018 and 2019 in Bogotá. The research demonstrates the implementation of mediation through the Mediation and Conciliation Units, has several difficulties with regard to efficiency and represents a negligible impact on the security of the city. First, the background and context of the UMC teams will be identified, as well as the context of security, coexistence and conflict resolution of the city.
