Summary:Topics such as thinking routines, comprehension levels from the Teaching for Understanding (EpC) and reading as an important element in the teaching and learning process, were addressed within the framework of this research,. All in order to implement strategies that promote thinking in students by making their understandings visible, by identifying and transferring the essence of the ideas about what they read, hear or see through mental representations connecting previous knowledge with new knowledge. With this research project, we seek to transform the classroom practices of the Social Science teacher, through the work done with thinking routines "Color, Symbol, Image" and "Connect, expand, challenge", making visible the reading comprehension of the 6th grade students of Antonio Nariño School, in the teaching and learning process and observing the progress according to the levels of understanding in which each reader stands out.
