description En este trabajo estimo el impacto de la planeación del embarazo en el desarrollo infantil. (2018). Para estimar tal impacto, yo implemento la metodología de Funciones de Control. Encuentro la planeación tiene un impacto positivo sobre la Talla para la Edad en niños de dos años. También realizo un análisis de mecanismos ingenuo y encuentro evidencia sugestiva de que la planeación del embarazo afecta el desarrollo de los niños ya que le permite a los padres invertir más. Específicamente, encuentro que la planeación del embarazo le permite a los padres asistir a consulta preconcepción, a más controles prenatales y preparar mejor el ambiente del hogar para la crianza de su hijo. No encuentro efecto alguno de la planeación sobre el desarrollo cognitivo ni socioemocional de los niños.

I do so for vulnerable Colombian children whose mothers are beneciaries of the Hogares Comunitarios de Familia, Mujer e Infancia (FAMI) program and were part of the experiment ran by Attanasio et al. (2018). To estimate the impact I implement the Control Functions methodology. I find that pregnancy planning has a positive impact on the Height-for-Age of children of two years old. I also perform a naive mechanisms analysis and find suggestive evidence that pregnancy planning affects child development because it allows parents to invest more in their children. Specifically, I find that pregnancy planning allows parents to assist to a preconception medical appointment, to attend more prenatal care check-ups, and to better prepare the household environment to raise their upcoming child.
