The Wheeler-DeWitt Equation : a schrèodinger equation for the origin of the universe

Over the last fifty years there has been an increasing interest in solving this particular puzzle and it all started with Einstein's General Relativity. In cosmology one uses this theory to study the universe as a physical system. That is, a system to study mathematically with a set of equations, principles and sensible assumptions that agree with observations. Although some models agree to a high degree with current observations, they fail to give a satisfactory answer to the question mentioned. Yet they give several hints that tell us that we should look for the answer within the realm of quantum mechanics. Specifically, we should look for a quantum theory of gravity.
