Using the Triple Differences approach, I compare men’s and women’s time worked and payment before and during the strike. I also compare the results based on their experience, and I find that the driver’s expertise significantly determined the extent of the strike’s effect. During the strike, both general and experienced female drivers worked 10.68 and 17.69 minutes more than men, respectively. The demographics of female Uber drivers suggest that the primary mechanisms behind the impact could have been the low dynamic ride prices and the change in their relative cost of time due to the teachers’ strike rather than increased childcare responsibilities. I use the concept of loss aversion and the income-targeting model to suggest that with the experience, female drivers tend to set a target income and are more averse than men to achieving outcomes below that benchmark. Thus, due to the strike’s negative effect on their income, they took advantage of the flexibility offered by Uber to soften the strike’s impact by working more between 4 a.m. and 10 a.m.Este estudio analiza el comportamiento de la oferta laboral de las conductoras de Uber en Bogotá, Colombia, en respuesta al paro de maestros del 2017. Utilizando el enfoque de Triples Diferencias, comparo el tiempo trabajado y el ingreso de hombres y mujeres antes y durante el paro. También comparo los resultados en función de su experiencia, y encuentro que la experiencia del conductor determinó significativamente el alcance del efecto del paro. Los resultados indican que las conductoras en general y con experiencia trabajaron 10.68 y 17.69 minutos más que los hombres durante el paro, respectivamente. La demografía de esta población sugiere que los principales mecanismos detrás del impacto podrían haber sido los bajos precios dinámicos y el cambio en su costo relativo del tiempo a causa del paro, en vez de un aumento de las responsabilidades de cuidado. Utilizo el concepto de aversión a la pérdida y el modelo de ingreso-objetivo para sugerir que, con la experiencia, las conductoras tienden a fijarse un ingreso objetivo y son más reacias que los hombres a obtener resultados por debajo de ese punto de referencia. Así, debido al efecto negativo que el paro tuvo en sus ingresos, aprovecharon la flexibilidad de Uber para suavizar el efecto al trabajar más entre las 4 a.m. y las 10 a.m.46 páginasapplication/pdfengUniversidad de los AndesFacultad de EconomíaDocumentos CEDE;
