Description
Summary:Territorial organization has been a sensitive topic in Colombian history, being a constant focus of disputes between different political and social segments in the country. This work analyzes the different territorial organization models, studying their characteristics, origins and main concepts as well as it examines the distinctive features of Colombian territorial institutions. Additionally, this work identifies a set of challenges that the present Colombian centralist model faces regarding political representation. Consequently, this work also proposes the adoption of the so-called Regional state as a territorial alternative that could help overcome many of said challenges of political representation, besides also helping in the consolidation of territorial democracy and protection of regional identities.
