Description
Summary:Around 1,700,000 Venezuelans have emigrated to Colombia due to the current crisis in Venezuela. The massive migration of this population poses a challenge for urban planning. In this article, I address the social dynamics between Colombian citizens and Venezuelan immigrants on the streets and that deepen segregation. Through ethnographic observation, interviews and surveys, I focused on a street in Usaquén (Bogotá) to delve into the imagination and experiences of its users in the context of the presence of Venezuelan citizens. In this research addresses how the street is the scene of socialization practices that do not allow migrants to feel part of the receiving society, a situation that is superimposed on an already fragmented relationship between Colombian citizens of different social classes.
