Summary:Escuela Nueva is a Flexible Educational Model that emerged in Colombia in the 1970s, with the objective of improving the educational quality in rural areas. This is why this model of learning adapts to multi-grade schools, which are common in rural areas; however, this model can also be adapted to one-grade schools. Escuela Nueva has guides per grade, which transforms the teacher?s role who becomes a facilitator. This is advantageous in multilevel schools, where teachers have different grades students in the same classroom. Escuela Nueva encourages teamwork and active learning, and also adapts to the needs of rural areas.
