Description
Summary:This paper explores the determinants of success in the professional soccer industry in order to find out what are the most important factors for being competitive at a global level. A general theoretical framework is presented under the theories presented by Michael E. Porter in his work: "The Competitive Advantage of Nations" to explain the determinants of competitiveness in any industry. Then, using comparative case studies, with Spain and England as advanced industries and Colombia as a lag, this theoretical framework is applied to find the most important factors in the development of the football industry. Finally, conclusions are reached regarding the Colombian industry in order to improve its current situation.
