Over the years, technology advanced, the steam train became electric and Colombia did not have the infrastructure to guarantee this step. Also with the Colombia government's commitment to use cars, buses and airplanes, they began to leave the railway isolated and forgotten. Time passed, and with it everything that the station meant in its day took with it. However, after analyzed the mass transport system proposed in Bogotá, Transmilenio, metro and regiotram, the station continues to be seen as the epicenter of the city...La estación de la sabana fue la puerta de oro para Bogotá. Cuando el tren llegaba a la estación, era un símbolo de modernidad, y conocimiento, ya que las personas que arribaban a Bogotá traían consigo noticias, y mercancías del exterior de la ciudad, generando un intercambio cultural entre los Bogotanos y extranjeros. Con el paso del tiempo, la tecnología fue avanzando, el tren de vapor paso a ser eléctrico, Colombia no contaba con la infraestructura para poder garantizar este paso y esto junto a la apuesta del gobierno por medios de transporte como carros, buses y aviones, comenzó a dejar el ferrocarril apartado y olvidado. El tiempo paso, y consigo se llevo todo lo que en su día significo la estación.
