Description
Summary:Understanding the behaviour of materials when a blast load is applied can allow the development of better and more resistant materials whose applications can be extended from military use to civil use. There are several methods and devices that can be used to analyse this behaviour, one of those and the core of this project is the shock tube system. This device has the capability to generate blast waves by injecting gas to a chamber which has a membrane at the end, that at the required pressure will burst creating the wanting shock wave that travels thru another chamber. Therefore this process has the advantage be relatively cheap as it only requires gas. The objective of this project is the development of the high pressure section involving the selection of the correct materials to endure the working pressure that the university facilities can achieve, the subsequent construction of the chamber and the study...
