Acute respiratory diseases (ARD) are a leading cause of infant morbidity and mortality, especially in developing countries. Despite its frequency and severity, the recognition of its symptoms is limited. The main risk lies when the rapid respiratory rate is not detected, as this is an important factor in the determination of ARDs. As an effect of this, they are too late to seek help from health centers, leading to their children's death. The aim of this project is to decrease the complications related to ARDs in children younger than 5 years, as such, a device called Brisa will be developed that will detect the breath rate advising if rapid shallow breathing (tachypnea) is presented. Brisa needs to calculate the baby's real-time breath with accuracy. At the same time, we want it to be comfortable, portable and most importantly, affordable. To meet these requirements, Brisa will take the form of a band. Using this proposed technology, the alarm signs of respiratory diseases can be exposed earlier, thus more lives can be saved due to prompt treatments. Brisa is a device with great projection, in the proposed business model the sales will begin from the third year of the schedule, after two years of device development. Once the sales begin, Brisa will have a net margin of around 35%, which is approximately equivalent to a net profit of 3,900 million pesos (COP). To develop the device, an investment of 520 million pesos (COP) is necessary |
