In our work we try to find insights on the sources of physiology and gene expression variability and their interaction with the environment, such as the case of nutrient limitation." -- Tomado del Formato de Documento de Grado."El interés en estudios sobre variabilidad en la expresión genética ha venido incrementando debido a sus aplicaciones en las industrias farmacéuticas, médicas y ciencias biológicas. Células genéticamente idénticas pueden tener diferentes fenotipos incluso cuando están creciendo en las mismas condiciones ambientales. Este es solo uno de muchos ejemplos de las consecuencias de la estocasticidad en las reacciones químicas a nivel molecular. En nuestro trabajo intentamos comprender las fuentes de variabilidad en fisiología y expresión genética, y su interacción con el ambiente como en el caso de limitación de nutrientes. Para lograr esto tomamos dos acercamientos. El primero es una técnica de microfluidos que cuantifica moléculas individuales dentro de células.
